KITTYPALOOZA begins Saturday at Richmond Animal Shelter

'KITTYPALOOZA ? Reduced Fee Adoption Event' begins Saturday at?the?Richmond Animal Shelter.

Cats and kittens, spayed and vaccinated, are up for adoption Saturday at a reduced adoption fee of $20.00 each, down from the usual fee of $65.

The week-long adoption event at Richmond Animal Care & Control is the city's latest effort to increase adoptions of adoptable pets in need of loving, permanent homes. In addition, the adoption fee for cats and dogs ages six years and older will be waived.

Potential adopters must complete an adoption application and meet with an adoption placement counselor to insure the best possible match for each pet.

City of Richmond residents must also purchase a $10 annual pet license.

"We have some of the cutest kittens to ever enter the shelter," said Acting Operations Mgr. Chuck Marchant. "And we have more than 100 adult dogs and cats also available."

Adoption hours are Saturday, noon?to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday?through Friday, 1:00 p.m.?to 5:00 p.m.

Richmond Animal Care & Control is located at 1600 Chamberlayne Ave. in Richmond.
