White Nexus 4 tipped for Dec. 13 UK launch

Android Central

Reports of a possible white LG Nexus 4 were circulating in the run up to the device's launch, with UK retailer Carphone Warehouse putting up in-store displays showing a white color option. Now further proof of the white Nexus 4's existence has emerged, as details for a "Nexus 4 white" and Nexus 7 deal have appeared on the website of UK telco TalkTalk.

The page offers pre-orders on a range of price plans, and says that the first round of stock is expected on Dec. 13. That just happens to be the day O2's UK-wide exclusivity expires, allowing other carriers to sell the Nexus 4.

It's unknown as to whether the the white Nexus 4 will be available elsewhere. The white versions of the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus never saw particularly wide releases -- and the standard black version is rare enough as it is. There's still no photographic evidence of the white N4's existence, although based on the appearance of the white Optimus G, and earlier white Nexii, we'd imagine the front face will remain black.

With the black Nexus 4 already back-ordered in many countries, it might be tempting to hold back until the white model arrives. Anyone planning on waiting it out? Let us know in the comments.

End Casino Cheating Devices: FREE Cheat Dice Detection System ...

A craps player, some time ago, at the Lady Luck Casino in Marquette IA identified a pattern configuration that was irregular on the dice there. The dice posessed a 2 where the 5 appeared on the 2nd dice. This numeric pattern configuration has been dice pattern modification & the exact plane specifications for these modified dice have now also been witnessed in an advertisement of the Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque IA. These casino cheating devices are studied in dice roll analysis & will be determined to influence dice rolls. The advertisement has been blatantly marketing casino cheating devices which are seemingly do so to confuse people or to make them accustomed to seeing pattern modified dice.

Mr. Steven Crowley had witnessed a device for cheating, but the casino treated him e.g. he was problems gambler. Has been this an usual practice for discussing a device for cheating? After being forced to speak to a councilor to be able to continue to gamble, he was banned from all thirteen of their casinos. Also can anybody say stupid? Why in the world does this casino treat individuals e.g. crisis gamblers for spotting a device for cheating for god sake? But what is even worse has been that with them.

Extensive dice roll studies have been performed to confirm that these dice influence dice rolls and there?s a large issue that must be addressed. Why does a man who witnesses casino cheating devices have men making unwanted appearances in his person al life stalking him? Mr. Crowley contacted his former employer, the former manager of the Lady Luck Casino to get these men away from him, & his former boss broke into his house to intimidate him. This man later filed a restraining order on Steve when Steve commenced notifiying the public of what was going on in his personal life. The disturbance to his personal life caused him to become homeless after having lost all his possessions.

It is the most bizarre of occurrences how a man who once had a spot less record of holding down a job, plays craps at a casino he used to work for, witnessed the casinos cheating device & ends up homeless being hassled with death references and having four weapons pointed at him. This crazy mistreatment has pissed the off so much that he is coming after pattern modified dice to protect society from the craziest persecution identified to man.

The stress of this treatment has been far reaching. Mr. Crowley is now diagnosed by mental-health professionals since being paranoid delusional, yet the persecution continued when he returned from the mental hospital handling the stress induced trauma of it all. Physicians had been even suggested Mr. Crowley be committed against his will in a mental facility for two months for paranoid delusions. The doctor even recommended that he receive government mental health assistance.but he is not even delusional. The doctor made his diagnosis even after reflecting on evidence he had of a gun being pointed at him in a parking lot. The doctor visited his site to look over evidence & made his conclusions after remaining on the site for 4 minutes. He completed a program to collect evidence of modified dice patterns & to find out if there are other members of society who have suffered similar persecution in an endeavor to prove that the abusive treatment has been ?organized persecution? for talking regarding cheat casino dice.

Steve has put together a cheat dice verification platform that is able to identify dice plane discrepancies. The system was modeled after fifteen canceled dice sets purchased from a local Dubuque casino. The program utilizes a lettering assignment of an ordinary cube to lock number values on the cube that match up to the plane specifications of the fifteen dice sets that the platform has been modeled after. He is working out of homelessness to complete the plan to cheat-proof the game of craps to protect the current population and the future gambling public from a form of persistent & personal life invasioning persecution that has left him living in poverty for over 13 months. This harassment should be eliminated from our society for the reason that the harassment we will be referring too doesn?t not have an end to it. The intrusion to where he has had to reside & the leaving of death references will be still occurring to the present day of Nov. 6, 2012.

The system is being sold for $9.95 to assist him get out of homelessness, but is provided free to Dice Narks for supporting his craps cheat-proofing plan & helping to collect evidence of casino cheating devices. He has also assembled a second free gift (25 page Bargain Hunters Guide) as an incentive to become a Dice Nark. If you would for instance to learn more regarding Dice Narking, please feel free to visit his website. God Bless us because we work in the directioin of a persecution-free cheat-proofed craps game.

Mr. Crowley alleges that the Manager of the Lady Luck Casino Marquette broke into his house for modified dice patterns. We wish to know if this is an usual practice for the Isle of Capri Corporation. Do they do this type of practice at their other casinos for example Isle Of Capri Casino Lake Charles. Will be there other craps players in difficulty? Support our plan to shelter craps players from stalking by getting rid of modified dice patterns from humanity. Mr. Crowley fashioned a comedy video show in homelessness. Dead Craps Player Socie T.V. is a mock talk show where he plays many different characters, always as himself, to explain the difficult circumstances of his harassment in a more entertaining & understandable format. View one of his episides: This episode is Breaking and Entering.

Western Michigan head football coach Bill Cubit will not return following 4-8 season

By Matt Buck

KALAMAZOO, MI (1660 THE FAN) - Western Michigan University has announced today it has terminated the contract of WMU head football coach Bill Cubit. In eight seasons with WMU, Cubit carried a 51-47 record but failed to win a bowl game in his tenure.

Along with Cubit, the entire WMU football coaching staff will not return.

WMU Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard said in a statement the mission of Bronco football has not changed despite the changes at the coaching position.

"Although this is a time of transition, the expectations of our department remain the same," Beauregard said. "Our vision and mission is winning division and conference titles and growing our number of postseason bowls. ?We continue to value student-athlete success academically and expect them to be great citizens in this community.?

The team will begin searching for a new head coach immediately, though WMU Athletics Director of Media Relations Mat Kanan said there is no early favorite for the coaching position.

Cubit boasts the fifth-most wins in WMU football history and the second-most Mid-American Conference wins in program history.

Mayan Ruins in Yucutan, Mexico

Uxmal is one of the Yucatan's largest Mayan sites. (Photo: ruins of uxmal. image by Grigory Kubatyan from Fotolia.com )

Related Articles

Mexico's flat, limestone Yucatan peninsula is dotted with hundreds of Mayan ruins, some famous, others little-known, many awaiting excavation. Archaeologists continue to work across the Yucatan, even at large, well-known sites like Uxmal and Chichen Itza. Smaller public sites can be seen in an afternoon, but the larger sites deserve a longer visit and adjacent hotels offer a quiet retreat from some of the Yucatan's popular beach vacation spots.

Classic Maya

The Puuc Hills, the only high ground on the Yucatecan plain, give their name to a classic Mayan design style. Puuc Mayan buildings were characterized by intricate patterned stonework, often resembling lattice, and repetitive carvings of the ancient Mayan rain god, Chac, with his elephant trunk-like nose. Some of the best Puuc Mayan stone carvings are found at Uxmal, the large site 50 miles southwest of Merida, and nearby smaller satellite sites including Sayil, Labna and Kabah.

Sacrificial Sport

The sacrificial ball game was an important religious ritual in ancient Mexico and ball courts of various sizes are found across the Yucatan. A court consisted of parallel walls, often with sloping sides at the base and a large stone ring mounted midway along the top of each. It is theorized that players attempted to toss a rubber ball through the ring. Chichen Itza, the major site 112 west west of Cancun and 74 miles east of Merida, has the largest ball court in Mesoamerica. The carved stone murals on the walls depict the ritual decapitation of the losers.

Pyramids Galore

The Yucatan peninsula is home to hundreds of pyramids, many of them deep in the jungle and overgrown. Legend has it that the unusual rounded Pyramid of the Magician at Uxmal was built in a single night by a magician. Chichen's Pyramid of Kukulcan, the Feathered Serpent god, has design elements linking it to the Mayan calendar. At the spring and summer equinox, the sun casts shadows on the staircase of the pyramid, making it appear that a snake is moving toward the top platform. The tallest pyramid on the peninsula is at Coba, a little-visited site near Tulum on the Maya Riviera. Atop the 132-foot-tall Nohoch Mul pyramid, visitors can see the sacbeob, the ceremonial crushed limestone roads that linked many of the sites.

Off the Beaten Track

There are many sites in the Yucatan that are little visited by large numbers of tourists or organized tour groups. Coba, an hour's drive inland from Tulum, is a large site with numerous ruins and rambling jungle paths dotted with Mayan stelae, columns with hierogylphic dates and symbols carved into the stone. At Kohunlich, just west of Chetumal on the border with Belize, the only noise comes from the great variety of tropical birds living in the jungle. Excavations continue at the quiet site of Ek Balam, nine miles north of Valladolid, near Chichen Itza, where a series of intricate wall carvings have been discovered.

Late Mayan Sites

When Spanish explorers arrived in the Yucatan in the early 16th century, many of the sites had been abandoned or fallen into disrepair. Some centers, like Tulum, 80 miles south of Cancun, were still occupied, but their 12th-century buildings were squat and not as graceful. Despite that, Tulum is a very popular tourist attraction. Dzibilchatun, 10 miles north of Merida, also was in use. A small museum there houses a collection of Mayan and colonial Spanish artifacts. But while the ancient centers became overgrown, some Mayan building traditions remained the same--the modern, rural Maya live in homes that look remarkably like a classic Puuc Mayan stone carving of a thatched home on the walls at Labna.

Making a better invisibility cloak

ScienceDaily (Nov. 11, 2012) ? The first functional "cloaking" device reported by Duke University electrical engineers in 2006 worked like a charm, but it wasn't perfect. Now a member of that laboratory has developed a new design that ties up one of the major loose ends from the original device.

These new findings could be important in transforming how light or other waves can be controlled or transmitted. Just as traditional wires gave way to fiber optics, the new meta-material could revolutionize the transmission of light and waves.

Because the goal of this type of research involves taming light, a new field of transformational optics has emerged. The results of the Duke experiments were published online Nov. 11 in the journal Nature Materials.

The Duke team has extensive experience in creating "meta-materials," human-made objects that have properties often absent in natural ones. Structures incorporating meta-materials can be designed to guide electromagnetic waves around an object, only to have them emerge on the other side as if they had passed through an empty volume of space, thereby cloaking the object.

"In order to create the first cloaks, many approximations had to be made in order to fabricate the intricate meta-materials used in the device," said Nathan Landy, a graduate student working in the laboratory of senior investigator David R. Smith, William Bevan Professor of electrical and computer engineering at Duke's Pratt School of Engineering.

"One issue, which we were fully aware of, was loss of the waves due to reflections at the boundaries of the device," Landy said. He explained that it was much like reflections seen on clear glass. The viewer can see through the glass just fine, but at the same time the viewer is aware the glass is present due to light reflected from the surface of the glass. "Since the goal was to demonstrate the basic principles of cloaking, we didn't worry about these reflections."

Landy has now reduced the occurrence of reflections by using a different fabrication strategy. The original cloak consisted of parallel and intersecting strips of fiberglass etched with copper. Landy's cloak used a similar row-by-row design, but added copper strips to create a more complicated -- and better performing -- material. The strips of the device, which is about two-feet square, form a diamond-shape, with the center left empty.

When any type of wave, like light, strikes a surface, it can be either reflected or absorbed, or a combination of both. In the case of earlier cloaking experiments, a small percentage of the energy in the waves was absorbed, but not enough to affect the overall functioning of the cloak.

The cloak was naturally divided into four quadrants. Landy explained the "reflections" noted in earlier cloaks tended to occur along the edges and corners of the spaces within and around the meta-material.

"Each quadrant of the cloak tended to have voids, or blind spots, at their intersections and corners with each other," Landy said. "After many calculations, we thought we could correct this situation by shifting each strip so that it met its mirror image at each interface.

"We built the cloak, and it worked," he said. "It split light into two waves which traveled around an object in the center and re-emerged as the single wave with minimal loss due to reflections."

Landy said this approach could have more applications than just cloaks. For example, meta-materials can "smooth out" twists and turns in fiber optics, in essence making them seem straighter. This is important, Landy said, because each bend attenuates the wave within it.

The researchers are now working to apply the principles learned in the latest experiments to three dimensions, a much greater challenge than in a two-dimensional device.

Link found between child prodigies and autism

ScienceDaily (Nov. 9, 2012) ? A new study of eight child prodigies suggests a possible link between these children's special skills and autism. Of the eight prodigies studied, three had a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders. As a group, the prodigies also tended to have slightly elevated scores on a test of autistic traits, when compared to a control group.

In addition, half of the prodigies had a family member or a first- or second-degree relative with an autism diagnosis.

The fact that half of the families and three of the prodigies themselves were affected by autism is surprising because autism occurs in only one of 120 individuals, said Joanne Ruthsatz, lead author of the study and assistant professor of psychology at Ohio State University's Mansfield campus.

"The link between child prodigies and autism is strong in our study," Ruthsatz said. "Our findings suggest child prodigies have traits in common with autistic children, but something is preventing them from displaying the deficits we associate with the disorder."

The study also found that while child prodigies had elevated general intelligence scores, where they really excelled was in working memory -- all of them scored above the 99th percentile on this trait.

Ruthsatz conducted the study with Jourdan Urbach of Yale University. Their results were published in a recent issue of the journal Intelligence.

For the study, the researchers identified eight child prodigies through the internet and television specials and by referral. The group included one art prodigy, one math prodigy, four musical prodigies and two who switched domains (one from music to gourmet cooking, and one from music to art). The study included six males and two females.

The researchers met with each prodigy individually over the course of two or three days. During that time, the prodigies completed the Stanford-Binet intelligence test, which included sub-tests on fluid reasoning, knowledge, quantitative reasoning, visual spatial abilities and working memory.

In addition, the researchers administered the Autism-Spectrum Quotient assessment, which scores the level of autistic traits. The prodigies' scores on the test were compared to a control group of 174 adults who were contacted randomly by mail.

Ruthsatz said the most striking data was that which identified autistic traits among the prodigies.

The prodigies showed a general elevation in autistic traits compared to the control group, but this elevation was on average even smaller than that seen in high-functioning autistic people diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.

Autism is a developmental disability characterized by problems with communicating and socializing and a strong resistance to change. People with Asperger's are more likely than those with autism to have normal intelligence, but tend to have difficulties with social interaction.

The prodigies did score higher than the control group and the Asperger's group on one subsection of the autism assessment: attention to detail.

"These prodigies had an absolutely amazing memory for detail," she said. "They don't miss anything, which certainly helps them achieve the successes they have."

Ruthsatz said it was not the three prodigies who were diagnosed with autism who were driving this particular finding. In fact, the three autistic prodigies scored an average of 8 on attention to detail, compared to 8.5 for the entire group of prodigies.

On the intelligence test, the prodigies scored in the gifted range, but were not uniformly exceptional. While five of the eight prodigies scored in the 90th percentile or above on the IQ test, one scored at the 70th percentile and another at the 79th percentile.

But just as they did in the autism assessment, the prodigies stood out in one of the sub-tests of the intelligence test. In this case, the prodigies showed an exceptional working memory, with all of them scoring above the 99th percentile.

Working memory is the system in the brain that allows people to hold multiple pieces of information in mind for a short time in order to complete a task.

The findings paint a picture of what it takes to create a prodigy, Ruthsatz said.

"Overall, what we found is that prodigies have an elevated general intelligence and exceptional working memory, along with an elevated autism score, with exceptional attention to detail," Ruthsatz said.

These results suggest that prodigies share some striking similarities with autistic savants -- people who have the developmental disabilities associated with autism combined with an extraordinary talent or knowledge that is well beyond average.

"But while autistic savants display many of the deficits commonly associated with autism, the child prodigies do not," Ruthsatz said. "The question is why."

The answer may be some genetic mutation that allows prodigies to have the extreme talent found in savants, but without the deficits seen in autism. But the answer will require more study, Ruthsatz said.

"Our findings suggest that prodigies may have some moderated form of autism that actually enables their extraordinary talent."

Home Improvement Tips ? Matching your doors to your home ...

There are so many different ways of transforming a house that many people don?t always consider how the simple replacement of a door can provide a totally refurbished look to their home. Matching your doors to your home is an easy way to change the overall appearance and atmosphere ? but what should you consider?

Take A Look
Sometimes a simple coat of paint will suffice to revamp your stylish ?des res? but if the frame surrounding the door has become warped over time then why not consider starting from scratch? The home will become more draught proof and look pretty chic at the same time. It?s not just the house exterior that needs to be revaluated; bifold doors in the interior of the home can transform many rooms.

Those with older houses might wish to take the rooms back to their original architecture ? helping to retain the property?s traditional charm.

Practical

All houses let in draughts, sadly. Houses are bombarded with winds and cold from all quarters, some of which can?t be protected by efficient insulation. One of the best ways to combat this problem is to invest in some decent hand crafted interior doors. These should match the architecture of the house to enhance its appearance but also prevent those nasty draughts penetrating the whole home.

Victorian
Many people in the UK live in a period house without even realising that their house was designed for beauty as well as practicality. A quick survey of the many red brick terraces that are located across the country will reveal sturdy wooden doors, designed to compliment the bricks and mortar that surround them.

Some of these buildings are listed so their owners will have to conform to certain standards and building regulations when making changes but even if the house doesn?t come under these restrictions it will certainly be enhanced by exterior and interior doors that conform to period designs.

Imagine a Kent terrace with plastic doors; it just simply doesn?t work. Alternatively, the terrace houses in all the rated ?soap operas? appear far sturdier and more pleasing to the eye if they have retained at least a facet of the original design. A sturdy front door provides status, will deter criminals and provides the homeowner with a sense of pride.

Architecture
Even a contemporary house can enhance its appeal with a well-crafted set of doors. Some of the most beautiful glass doors are placed within frames that have been specifically designed to match the house exterior and are ideal for those looking to achieve congruency with their home decor.

Clinton says US to increase anti-poaching efforts

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) ? Alarmed that rebel militias could be profiting from a sharp increase in the poaching of elephants and rhinos, the U.S. plans to step up efforts to build a global coalition to combat the illegal wildlife trade, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says.

Speaking before animal activists and several international ambassadors, Clinton told a crowd in Washington on Thursday that poachers are using helicopters, night vision goggles and automatic weapons to hunt down wildlife. She wants world leaders to increase their focus on combating the problem and said that she and President Barack Obama will speak to Asian leaders about it next week at the East Asia Summit.

"Some of you might be wondering why a Secretary of State is keynoting an event about wildlife trafficking and conservation," Clinton said on Thursday, before answering her own question: "Over the past few years wildlife trafficking has become more organized, more lucrative, more widespread and more dangerous than ever before."

Elephants across Africa are being slaughtered by the thousands for their ivory tusks, which are shipped to Asia, particularly China, and made into ivory trinkets. In Tanzania alone, 10,000 elephants a year are said to be killed by poachers.

Rhino horns are in great demand globally, particularly in Southeast Asia, ground up for use as alleged aphrodisiacs and in traditional medicines or turned into decorative dagger handles.

Iain Douglas-Hamilton, the founder of Save the Elephants, said Clinton's speech "signifies the will of the United States to tackle the scourge of wildlife poaching and elevates the issue internationally. Now it remains to share awareness with the Chinese and for the U.S. and China to exert joint leadership to lower the demand for ivory before it is too late."

Yao Ming, the oversized basketball star from China, visited Kenya in August to raise awareness in China about the animal deaths required to supply ivory to China's middle class. He is taking part in a film called "The End of the Wild."

Clinton said the U.S. will reach out to leaders around the world to forge a consensus on wildlife protection. The U.S. also plans to launch initiatives and expand and strengthen enforcement of wildlife laws. She noted with regret that the U.S. is the second-largest destination market for illegally trafficked wildlife.

Elsewhere on Friday, a South African court sentenced a Thai national to 40 years for selling rhino horns. Chumlong Lemtongthai pleaded guilty to paying prostitutes who posed as hunters to harvest rhino horns, which were then sold on Asia's traditional medicine market, according to the South African Press Association. At least 458 of South Africa's endangered rhinos have been illegally killed this year ? a record number.

States Eye Crackdown on Charities - The Chronicle of Philanthropy

November 9, 2012, 10:53 am

State-level charity regulators may be joining forces to clamp down on nonprofit groups reporting vastly inflated values for product donations, particularly of medications, to boost their bottom line, according to Forbes.

Forbes names New Mexico Assistant Attorney General Elizabeth Korsmo, head of the state?s Charities Bureau, as a key player in a coordinated multi-state effort rumored in nonprofit circles to be taking shape, possibly in tandem with the Internal Revenue Service.

Ms. Korsmo would not confirm or deny that such a task force is in the making, but she said that states ?are looking at gift-in-kind valuation issues. This is on our radar. It?s a hot issue among regulators.?

Scientology sparks little controversy in Israel

Ariel Schalit / AP

Books by American science fiction writer and founder of Scientology L. Ron Hubbard on display at the Scientology center in port city of Jaffa, Israel, where Scientology opened a new center in August.

By The Associated Press

TEL AVIV, Israel -- The Church of Scientology has apparently found one place where its presence doesn't set off alarms, protests and demonstrations, and that place is one of the world's most religiously fraught countries ? Israel.

In August, Scientology opened a gleaming new headquarters in the ancient port city of Jaffa, part of Tel Aviv. Since then, visitors and the curious have streamed through with no incidents.

And this in a country where Jews and Muslims harbor clashing claims over the same holy sites, sometimes sparking violence, and competing Jewish streams disparage each other openly and often.

Scientology has confronted charges in many countries that it is a dangerous cult that brainwashes its followers and confiscates their assets. Its leaders deny that.

Reports indicate that actress Katie Holmes was concerned about her daughter's upbringing within the Church of Scientology, the controversial faith Tom Cruise supports. NBC's Jeff Rossen reports.

"Like any new religion, people have misconceptions and much doubt, but we simply use logic to think life out for ourselves and are taught to question and debate everything," said Sefi Fischler, the church's spokesmen in Tel Aviv.

According to its website, Scientology believes man is an immortal spiritual being with unlimited capabilities. Its practices include spiritual counseling.

Created by American science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard in 1954, the Los Angeles-based movement claims millions of members worldwide, including celebrities like actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta. It has been blamed as the catalyst behind the well-documented breakup of Cruise and his ex-wife Katie Holmes.

Church of Scientology denies it seeks to censor TomKat comments

Germany, France and Russia are among the governments that keep a close eye on Scientology, and court cases have been filed against the church in some places.

In contrast, there hasn't been much public opposition in Israel.

While a 1987 Israeli parliamentary commission declared it a cult, the practice of Scientology in Israel is legal. The new headquarters has some 200 staff and claims to serve thousands.

Read more Israel coverage on NBCNews.com

Eytan Schwartz, a spokesman for Tel Aviv's mayor, said the new center is a testament to Israel's spirit of religious tolerance.

"Within just a few blocks of the center, you'll find numerous synagogues, several mosques and churches, 4,000 years of Abrahamic monotheistic religions expressing themselves," he said. "The Scientology center is simply showing that Tel Aviv is one of the most pluralistic cities in the Middle East."

Too warm a welcome?
Despite the lack of public protests at its new center, the church has no shortage of detractors. A group of Israeli Scientology defectors, claiming corruption within the church, started a breakaway center in the northern city of Haifa.

Yad L'Achim, an Israeli anti-missionary group, criticized the government for what it said was too warm a welcome.

"Politicians have diplomatically welcomed the center, because politics is all about being nice," Daniel Asor, a spokesman for the group, said. "Scientology is a cult, and this is a dangerous development."

Rock Center: Tom Cruise's former Scientology auditor speaks about Cruise/Kidman divorce

Israeli movie director Erez Meshulam said the presence of the new center is disastrous. "Scientology ruined my marriage by convincing my wife, in return for thousands and thousands of dollars, that her soul could be cleansed," he said. "I fear this means more people will be fooled."

Church officials dismiss such criticism as baseless.

Fischler said the center hopes to bridge gaps among religions in the country. He noted its anti-drug and literacy efforts and outreach programs to prison inmates.

"Now with the building open, we can invite everybody in and show them who we are," he said.

Daytrading, Stock Trading, Investing and Forex Trading ? Another ...

Have you always wanted to earn income on the stock exchange and never find the bravery to do so? True, the market is extraordinarily unstable. It also has a tendency to plunge into apparently complicated behaviours on occasion. It also takes real courage, smarts, and the will to take a position in the best stockmarket trading system to make your investments pay-off. Picking the ?gainers? and avoiding the ?losers? is the name of the game.

Warren Buffett knows this idea well, and that made him the second-richest man in the world today. For example, you can analyse the financials of a corporation like Citibank but are you able to actually appraise the investment without considering the great virtue of the that company brand? Without a benefit of the brand, the company would be yet another supplier of sugared water. Nevertheless let us return to the question : why should we are going thru all this difficulty? A major guesses in fundamental investigation is that the corporation's share price doesn't always reflect its true value. Any fool can start a corporation that sells sugared water but would you actually think about this company might be on a similar level to the company selected? So we see that fundamental investigation involves a balancing act between qualitative and quantitative factors. This brings us to the second major expectations in fundamental analysing. * Learning the language connected with penny shares is critical. * Although the penny market is minimal cost compared with other stocks you can still make a respectable profit that may make a substantial difference for you and also your family so far as revenue to aid in paying for your debts or building toward your retirement.

* There are new technologies out there now that may seriously improve the probability for successful securities dealing.

Focus upon learning investing techniques which will permit you to reach your money goals. The fantastic thing about the stock trader software is the indisputable fact that they're programmed to recognise the trends and advise you of which stocks are probably going to be good to make an investment in. Make smaller goals initially, then work up to more impressive goals. Newbie share trading may be a nice experience for you, if you do not forget to learn all you can about the stock exchange before you invest. Protection From The Sea Is Possible, But Expensive

Residents of the Colonial Place neighborhood watch as high winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Sandy floods the Lafayette River in Norfolk, Va., on Oct. 28. Rich-Joseph Facun/Reuters/Landov

Residents of the Colonial Place neighborhood watch as high winds and heavy rain from Hurricane Sandy floods the Lafayette River in Norfolk, Va., on Oct. 28.

While New York City and other places along the northeast coast are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy, they're also looking ahead to how they can prevent flooding in the future, when sea level rise will make the problem worse. They may be able to take some lessons from coastal Norfolk, Va., which is far ahead of most cities when it comes to flood protection.

Just about everybody in Norfolk has a flood story. It's part of living in this low-lying port at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Donna Woodward's story is about how she gets to her job at the local public radio station when storm winds are pushing water toward the city.

"I have actually bought full-body hip-waders because Hampton Boulevard, which is the main artery that runs past our house, is always hip deep in water whenever it's like that," says Woodward.

But Woodward notes that things in Norfolk are better than they used to be, when even normal tides would cause flooding. "Our neighborhood, for instance, they spent some good money to elevate our street 18 inches," she says. "And ever since they've done that, honestly, we have seen, you know, like four-foot, three-foot tides that normally would have blocked off our street. No problem."

Woodward says her street still floods during big storms, though. Also, the project was years in the making and cost more than $1 million to complete. And it didn't do anything to protect the houses along the street. Woodward's house has had major flood damage twice in the past five years, even though the electrical box has been raised and the air conditioner is on the roof.

"I love this house. I love Norfolk. I love living here," Woodward says. "But it's incredibly stressful to know that this house either is going to have to be elevated or I'm going to lose it eventually."

The city has been experimenting with this idea of elevating houses. So far they've put more than 20 on taller foundations. A new grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will pay to elevate five more at a cost of about $900,000.

Paul Fraim, the mayor of Norfolk, says it will take a lot more money and a comprehensive plan to make sure his city is still thriving 30 years from now. "The city is slowly sinking into the Chesapeake Bay and at the same time the sea level is rising," Fraim says.

Tide gauges show the relative water level around Norfolk is more than 14 inches higher than it was in 1930. And the rate of sea-level rise is increasing, especially between North Carolina and Boston.

Even so, Fraim says he's optimistic. "It's a problem that if we know you work hard and get the very best science, that I think we can actually not only mitigate but we can deal with and still do just fine."

But not without a lot of planning and spending. The city already devotes about $6 million a year to improve storm water drainage. And it has hired the U.S. branch of Fugro, a Dutch company, to come up with a long-term plan to keep the water out of several vulnerable neighborhoods.

One of those projects involves a body of water with a Dutch name ? The Hague. "The Hague is like many areas ? you've got a little encapsulated basin with a small outlet. It provides an opportunity to create a barrier with a gate, so that you can close the gate, close the barrier when you have the tidal surge," says Tom McNeilan of Fugro Atlantic. "It's not a trivial expenditure. You're talking tens of millions of dollars for that particular project."

Protecting that one little body of water will cost roughly $30 million. To protect all the neighborhoods in Fugro's plan would take about $1 billion. And protecting New York and New Jersey would take many times that amount. Communities say they can't do it without federal assistance.

The dollar amounts are large, but McNeilan says previous investments in flood protection have paid off, such as the flood wall built in the 1960s that protects downtown Norfolk. "I think you could look at a picture of downtown Norfolk today looking over the floodwall and ask yourself would all that development have occurred without the floodwall. And I think the answer to that clearly is no," says McNeilan. The company where McNeilan works, Fugro Atlantic, is one of the businesses behind that flood wall.
